YVES
A lot of interesting things have happened since I first started this site. Many old friends and musicians have reconnected with each other. People have shared some great stories with me. I've made some friends that I'm sure will be for life. Of all the different things that have happened since the beginning, the following has got to be the most touching story. It all started (at least with my involvement) on the morning of November 19, 2005. I awoke to find a very interesting e-mail through the website. It was from a girl named Yves (pronounced Yev.) She was 33 years old and was trying to find out information on her biological father, which her Mom had just revealed to her was Jon Floth. Yves had been told that her father was a musician that had played in a band called Fat Emma, as well as The Monocles. She did a Google search for Jon Floth/Fat Emma and came up with this website. She had only recently (at the time) made contact with her mother after over 25 years apart and had just been told of Jon being her father within the week. Yves' Mom had married when Yves was two years old, and left him five years later. Yves ended up staying with him. It is sad that she found out about Jon having passed away by reading it on the website.
I got in touch with Rick Hull on Thanksgiving Day of that year and found out that Jon had three sisters. This was a nice bit of news to share with her on that day. I knew that one day they would all be in touch. It was just a matter of time.
We exchanged e-mails regularly and spoke of getting together. For one reason or another the timing never seemed to be right. This was mainly my fault. After a few months our communications became less frequent but we always stayed in touch.
On the night of February 16, 2007, I heard from two of the Floth sisters. I immediately wrote them back and told them I needed to talk with them. I wrote Yves the next morning to tell her. Over that weekend I talked with all three of them and was able to tell them about Yves and how she had got in touch with me through the website. I believe it was In April that they all got together for the first time. Yves was also able to meet her Grandmother. She has been welcomed into the family with open arms!
In August, Jon's Mom turned 90 years young. A surprise birthday party was held for her on August 4. I was honored to be invited to this special event. On this day, I met Yves, the Floth sisters and their spouses, and their Mom for the first time. A nicer group of people you will not find. It was a great day and a very positive experience! Also in attendance were Robb and Merikay Casseday, Rick Hull and his girlfriend Rita, and Rick's Dad. Tim McDonald was also there along with several other very nice people that I did not know. Many interesting stories were told. It was a very special day.
This is a very condensed version of a long story with a happy ending!
